Matthew is an Associate Director in Social Finance’s Impact Advisory and Public Sector practice. He works on a variety of initiatives focused on children and families, education, and economic mobility.

Matthew brings experience from nonprofits, government, and philanthropy. Prior to joining Social Finance, he served as a Program Officer at the S. D. Bechtel, Jr. Foundation, where he made grants to San Francisco Bay Area nonprofits and supported organizational development initiatives. Previously, he worked at The Institute for College Access & Success, a nonprofit research and advocacy organization advancing college affordability. Earlier in his career, he worked at the U.S. Department of Education, the U.S. Department of Justice, and on the 2008 Barack Obama campaign.

Matthew holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of California, Berkeley and a Master in Public Policy from the Harvard Kennedy School of Government. He lives in California’s East Bay with his wife and daughter.
