Matthew La Rocque is an Associate Director at Social Finance, where he works on a variety of initiatives focused on economic mobility, children and families, and education.

Matthew has held roles spanning nonprofits, government, and philanthropy. Prior to joining Social Finance, he served as a Program Officer at the S. D. Bechtel, Jr. Foundation, where he made grants to advance healthy democracy, supported grantee capacity building initiatives, and generated knowledge on best practices in philanthropy. Previously, he worked at The Institute for College Access & Success, a nonprofit research and advocacy organization advancing college affordability. Earlier in his career, he worked at the U.S. Department of Education, the U.S. Department of Justice, and on the 2008 Barack Obama campaign.

Matthew holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of California, Berkeley and a Master in Public Policy from the Harvard Kennedy School of Government.
