Social Finance will not share or sell your personal information with any third party unless we are required to.

We have appointed a data privacy officer who is responsible for overseeing questions in relation to this Privacy Policy. If you have any questions, please contact Carrie Benjamin at cbenjamin@socialfinance.org.

If you would like to receive this notice in another format (for example: audio, large print, braille) please contact us.

We may change this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make any changes in the way we handle your personal information, we will note that on this page.

As you interact with this Site, we automatically collect technical data about your equipment, browsing actions and patterns. We collect this personal data by using cookies, server logs, and other similar technologies. We also received aggregated data about users of our Site through analytics providers such as Google Analytics and advertising networks such as Google Ads.

You can set your browser to refuse all or some browser cookies, or to alert you when websites set or access cookies. If you disable or refuse cookies, please note that some parts of this Site may become inaccessible or not function properly.

Our Site may include links to third-party websites. Clicking on those links may allow third parties to collect or share data about you, so we encourage you to read the privacy policies of these websites you may visit.

How we use your personal data

We use your personal data for a number of purposes in support of Social Finance’s mission, including to:

  • Share information about Social Finance that may be of interest to you;
  • Fundraise for particular initiatives or programs;
  • Perform administrative tasks and for internal record keeping purposes;
  • Create and analyze aggregated (fully anonymized) information about users for statistical research purposes.

We will not share or sell your personal data with any third party unless we are required to by law.

How your information is stored and secured

Information may be held at our offices, or the offices of third party agencies, service providers, representatives and agents. We have put in place administrative, technical, and physical security measures to protect your personal information and prevent your data from being accidentally lost, used or accessed in an unauthorized way, altered, or disclosed. Only authenticated users with specific permissions may access the data and they are subject to a duty of confidentiality. We will notify you and any applicable regulator of suspected data security breach where we are legally required to do so.

How to contact us about your personal information

If you choose to contact our data privacy officer directly at cbenjamin@socialfinance.org, you will need to provide us with:

  • Enough information to identify you;
  • Proof of your identity and address (e.g., a copy of your driving license or passport and a recent utility or credit card bill); and
  • A description of what right you want to exercise and the information to which your request relates.

We are not obligated to make a data access or data portability disclosure if we cannot verify that the person making the request is the person about whom we collected information, or is someone authorized to act on such person’s behalf.

Any personal information we collect from you to verify your identity in connection with you request will be used solely for the purposes of verification.

How long we keep your personal information

We will only retain your personal data for as long as reasonably necessary to fulfill the purposes we collected it for. We may retain your personal data for a longer period in the event of a complaint or if we reasonably believe there is a prospect of litigation in respect to our relationship with you.

To determine the appropriate retention period for personal data, we consider the amount, nature and sensitivity of the personal data, the potential risk of harm from unauthorized use or disclosure of your personal data, the purposes for which we process your personal data and whether we can achieve those purposes through other means, and the applicable legal, regulatory, tax, accounting, or other requirements.

In some circumstances we will anonymize your personal data (so that it can no longer be associated with you) for research or statistical purposes, in which case we may use this information indefinitely.

For individuals in the European Economic Area: General Data Protection Regulation

The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is a European Regulation concerning the use and processing of personal information and provides further information about your rights. We are committed to processing your information in compliance with the GDPR.

You have the right to lodge complaints with your national or regional data protection authority. If you are inclined to exercise these rights, we request an opportunity to discuss with you any concerns you may have.

By providing information directly to Social Finance, you consent to the transfer of your personal information outside of the European Economic Area (EEA) to the United States. The current laws and regulations of the United States may not provide the same level of protection as the data and privacy laws and regulations of the EEA.

You can ask us to stop storing your data or contacting you at any time by following the unsubscribe links on any marketing message sent to you or by contacting Carrie Benjamin at cbenjamin@socialfinance.org.
