Work at Social Finance

Social Finance is a pioneering organization with a mission to build innovative partnerships and investments that measurably improve lives. To help us achieve this mission, we are actively hiring individuals across our five U.S. offices: Boston, Austin, New York, San Francisco, and Washington, DC.

We are driven by the belief that social and economic systems should enable all people to thrive, and the conviction that we can create the most meaningful and measurable change in our communities when governments and markets work together. Our organization is built on four core values: putting people first, focusing on results, demonstrating the highest standards of integrity and accountability, and building enduring cross-sector partnerships. We take our work seriously but also know how to have fun, and we take time to celebrate each other and our achievements.

As we enter our second decade, our team is growing across several departments, including generalist, impact investing, legal, finance, and administrative!

Hear from our Team

Rachel An, Associate
“At Social Finance, I love the diversity of projects I get to work on. No two projects are alike, which means you’re always learning something new and building different skillsets. Plus, I’m constantly floored by how much people here care about you and are very intentional about your development. I joined during the pandemic and was unsure of how connected I would feel with the larger organization, but I’ve been able to bond with my colleagues and grow even in this new hybrid/remote work environment.”

Annie Jensen, Associate Director
“I started my career at Social Finance as an Associate. The level of autonomy we have to build and lead relationships with partners is really great for growth. I was also surprised by the level of openness to different ideas. This is a really new field, so you can’t be afraid to share your ideas—it’s very possible that it is a good idea and no one has thought of it yet. Social Finance works in the type of industry where we truly have the opportunity to think creatively and be innovative.”

Our people are at the center of all that we do. We strive to create an environment where every individual on our team can comfortably bring their full selves to work each day and have a work-life balance that meets their needs. Our culture reflects this mentality:

  • We follow a hybrid model in which we encourage our teammates to be together in the office three days a week, but to work from home two days a week and on an ad-hoc basis as needed.
  • Learning is a priority. Whether it’s through weekly all-staff meetings, Knowledgefests, or class conversations, transparency and knowledge sharing are core to our culture.
  • We love our firm traditions and like to have fun together, from trivia to potlucks to an annual offsite!
  • We celebrate the little things, like birthdays, anniversaries, and wins on projects, and encourage frequent shoutouts and recognition.
  • Casual dress every day.
