Leslie Cornell is a director and the deputy general counsel at Social Finance. Prior to Social Finance, Leslie was a public finance attorney, serving as bond counsel, underwriter’s counsel and borrower’s counsel for a wide variety of public finance transactions including tax-exempt conduit financings for not-for-profit universities, hospitals, health care systems and cultural institutions. Her work also included participation with Pay for Success financings, representing social service providers, investors, municipal entities and intermediaries.

Previously, Leslie worked as a PILI Fellow at the Chicago Appleseed Fund for Justice with the Center for Judicial Performance and Integrity. Prior to attending law school, Leslie worked in the press office of the former U.S. House of Representatives Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi. Leslie holds a BS in Media Studies and a Masters degree in Political Science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign where she was a Civic Leadership Fellow. She graduated cum laude from Loyola University Chicago School of Law.
