Sooah is an Associate Director supporting Social Finance’s impact advisory and impact investment teams.

Previously, Sooah built coalitions for collective impact with 80+ nonprofits in NYC with the Student Success Network; helped push tax initiatives to benefit working and middle-class families with Connecticut Voices for Children; and founded the Elevating Youth Voice program to center youth and community voice and engage them as equal partners in decision-making. Before moving to the east coast, she taught 10th grade English at Oakland Unity High School and was awarded Teacher of the Year by the Office of Oakland Charter Schools in 2016.

Sooah is a graduate of the Yale School of Management and the University of Southern California’s Annenberg and Cinematic Arts programs, where she worked with BBC correspondents in Korea to cover North and South Korea relations as well as humanitarian relief and social supports for North Korean defectors. Sooah has also been elected to Teach for America’s Alumni Board, Leaders for Educational Equity’s Emerging Policy Leaders, Princeton’s Emerging Leaders in Nonprofit, and the Reach Institute of School Leadership’s graduate training and licensing program.

I'm excited to be here because Social Finance is asking all the right questions and is bringing together all the right people to try and answer them!
