Harper Lawson is a Special Projects Coordinator at the Social Finance Institute, where she supports a range of initiatives across communications, events, and internal operations.

Before joining Social Finance, Harper built a background in storytelling, digital strategy, and public engagement through roles at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center and the Council on Foreign Relations. She also worked in several local and campus newsrooms and contributed to projects that were Pulitzer finalists and MDDC Press award winners.

Harper earned her Bachelor of Arts in Journalism with a minor in Sociology from the University of Maryland, College Park. Originally from Richmond, Virginia and now based in the Washington, D.C. area, she enjoys sitting down with a good book, cooking elaborate meals, and finding creative ways to combine communications and social impact.

I came to Social Finance because I wanted to be part of a team that doesn’t just talk about change, but builds it.
