Your employer recently informed us of your interest in becoming a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) with support from the MA Career Ladder Program (CLP) that we, Social Finance, Inc. (Social Finance), are currently developing with the Massachusetts Executive Office of Health and Human Services (EOHHS).

We are excited to hear that you are thinking about taking this step in your career.

The CLP is intended to help Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) and other direct-care workers in senior care, home care, and community settings become LPNs.

Key CLP benefits will likely include the following:

  • A reduced work schedule to about 20 hours per week while you attend your LPN training program without a change in your current benefits;
  • A CLP bonus payment to help defray your living costs while you are working on a reduced schedule and attending your LPN training program; and
  • Access to one-on-one coaching and other personal support while you are attending your LPN training program.

To be eligible to participate in the CLP, you must:

  1. Be accepted into an LPN training program at a Massachusetts community college.
  2. Have the approval and support of your employer; and
  3. Make a commitment that upon obtaining your LPN license, you will continue to work for your current employer as a full-time LPN for at least four (4) years.

Here’s what you can do now:

If you have already been accepted to an LPN training program for the Fall of 2024

If you have not yet been accepted to an LPN training program but have completed the necessary prerequisites

If you have not yet completed prerequisites but desire to apply to LPN training programs at some point in the near future, consider the following

We will be in touch with more details and next steps in May. If you have any time-sensitive questions, please email MACareerLadder@socialfinance.org
