Dr. Wingard brings decades of public and private sector experience to the Institute
Boston, MA and Washington, D.C. — Today, the Social Finance Institute announced that Dr. Jason Wingard has joined as a Senior Advisor. In this role, Dr. Wingard will engage in research and thought leadership around outcomes-based employment and training models that support economic mobility in the United States. Launched in 2024, the Social Finance Institute is a unique field-building platform that leverages insights from practitioners and experts to develop networks, tools, and actionable resources to advance outcomes-based, impact-first funding models to measurably improve people’s lives.
Dr. Wingard is a globally renowned scholar and executive, with deep experience in both the private and public sectors, specializing in organizational talent strategy and the future of work. He currently serves as Distinguished Visiting Professor at Harvard University and Executive Chairman of the Education Board, Inc., and recently served as the 12th President of Temple University and, concurrently, Professor of Management and Professor of Policy, Organizational, and Leadership Studies. Dr. Wingard holds a BA in Sociology, with honors, from Stanford University, a MA in education from Emory University, a EdM in Technology in Education from Harvard University, and a PhD in Education, Culture, and Society from the University of Pennsylvania.

The Social Finance Institute aims to build connections among cross-sector partners and amplify learnings for policymakers and practitioners looking to use innovative funding models to achieve impact. The Institute’s work focuses on the key areas of actionable research and publications, cohort and learning modules, and educational outreach and advocacy.
