Mary Hong is an associate director at Social Finance, supporting the social investment and advisory services teams. She is especially passionate about driving systemic change through innovations in how the public and private sectors collaborate, as well as using data for more informed, effective decision-making.

Prior to joining Social Finance, Mary was a management consultant at McKinsey & Co. where she has helped governments, foundations and non-profits transform their strategy and operations. She advised the Government of Sierra Leone on its post-Ebola economic recovery and the design/roll-out of a national teacher coaching program. In addition, Mary brings finance and transactions experience from LeapFrog Investments (a profit-with-purpose fund focused on financial services for the poor) and Deutsche Bank’s Investment Banking group. Mary’s work within healthcare spans both public and private sectors, including development of Liberia’s National Human Resources for Health Strategy and various initiatives for pharmaceutical companies across portfolio, procurement, manufacturing and organizational design.

Mary holds an MPA in International Development from the Harvard Kennedy School of Government, and dual BS in Engineering and Management Science and a Minor in Economics from MIT.
