Michele Joo Shank

Michele Joo Shank is a Director and Senior Assistant General Counsel at Social Finance focusing on SFI’s portfolio of Impact Investments. She leads and supports the negotiation and drafting of pay-for-success project contracts and works with, among others, institutional and philanthropic investors and nonprofit and mission-aligned, for-profit service providers to implement outcome-based financing initiatives, including Career Impact Bonds, Pay It Forward Funds and the Google Career Certificates Fund.

Prior to Social Finance, Michele was a private equity attorney focusing on mergers, acquisitions, leveraged buyouts, financings, growth equity investments, and general corporate matters at several AmLaw 20 firms and a diversity, equity & inclusion (DEI) professional.

Michele graduated cum laude with a J.D. from Howard University School of School of Law and holds a B.A. in English Literature from Barnard College of Columbia University.
