About Us

Inspired by the groundbreaking work of Social Finance UK, David Blood, Sir Ronald Cohen, and Tracy Palandjian founded Social Finance US in January 2011 to bring the Social Impact Bond model to the United States. 

In December 2013, Social Finance, the Center for Employment Opportunities, and the State of New York launched the first state-led Pay for Success project to increase employment and improve public safety in New York City and Rochester. It was the first Pay for Success financing syndicated to individual investors via a wealth management platform (Bank of America Merrill Lynch). Our Advisory Services team has engaged with local and state governments, foundations, and nonprofits to explore the potential of Pay for Success in issues such as diabetes, youth development, maternal health, and workforce development.

In February 2015, we expanded our regional presence by opening an office in Austin, TX. 

Pay for Success has generated sustained interest among stakeholders from the public, private, and social sectors, and sits at the intersection of impact investing, evidence-based policymaking, and government accountability. Since our founding, we have contributed to the Pay for Success field through market education, publications, research and analysis.

Social Finance is proud to work closely with our sister organizations, Social Finance UK and Social Finance Israel as part of the Social Finance Global Network. Together, the Global Network works to advance innovative financing solutions to tackle social issues worldwide.
